Three Signs of Meekness| The power of Gentleness in the Bible| English Bible latest message

Grace and Peace in the Name of Jesus Christ

In the name of our good Lord Jesus Christ, may His grace and peace increase abundantly among you. One beautiful character that our Lord desires in us is gentleness. In many places in the Bible, we read about the wonderful blessings that come through a gentle spirit.

Psalm 147:6 says, “The Lord lifts up the gentle, but He casts the wicked down to the ground.” Matthew 5:5 says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Through these verses, we understand how great gentleness is and how many blessings it brings into a person’s life.

In the Holy Bible, we read about certain people who had a gentle spirit. In some important moments of their lives, the Bible introduces them as people who were gentle. Today, let us study how people with a gentle spirit behave in their lives.

Moses – A Man of Great Gentleness

Numbers 12:3 says, “Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.”

Here, Moses faced strong opposition from his own brother and sister. Aaron and Miriam raised unnecessary problems. They even questioned whether the Lord spoke only through Moses. This could have hurt Moses deeply.

Moses had the opportunity to answer them strongly. He could have defended himself or punished them. But the Bible says he was very gentle. He remained quiet and patient. Even when he had the right to respond, he chose silence. This shows his true gentleness.

When people rise against us, accuse us falsely, or hurt us—even if they are our own family or church members—we may have the strength to answer back. But if we remain calm and patient, that is the true sign of gentleness.

When we are treated unfairly and blamed wrongly, we must stay peaceful and trust the Lord. In this event, Moses remained silent, and the Lord Himself acted. The Lord became angry and punished Miriam. Gentle people depend on God and allow Him to act.

Seraiah – A Man Who Listened and Learned

Jeremiah 51:60 mentions Seraiah as a gentle leader. The prophet Jeremiah gave him the Word of the Lord.

A person must be gentle to receive and learn God’s Word. A proud and arrogant person cannot truly learn. It is very important for us to learn God’s Word daily. God’s Word must be more important to us than anything else.

The Israelites collected manna every morning. That was their daily food. Without it, they could not live. In the same way, for us—the spiritual Israel—God’s Word is our daily manna. We must receive it every day.

Jeremiah met many people, but many were proud and stubborn. They could not listen. But Seraiah was gentle, so he truly listened and learned. A gentle heart is always ready to learn.

Jesus – The Perfect Example of Gentleness

Matthew 21:5 says, “Behold, your King comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey.”

Here, Jesus is described as gentle while riding on a donkey. This shows humility. A king usually rides a horse or chariot. People prefer valuable and powerful things. But Jesus, the King of Heaven, humbled Himself.

He left heaven, took human form, humbled Himself, and lived with a gentle spirit. A proud person would never choose such a humble way. But our Lord chose humility and gentleness.

Today, many people desire expensive things—cars, houses, clothes, and possessions. But we must remember that true greatness is not in outward value, but in humility and gentleness.

Only when we walk in gentleness can we truly walk in humility. God gives grace to the humble. He lifts up the gentle. Let us have the gentle spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ in our lives.

Philippians 4:5 says, “Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is near.” Let us show our gentleness to everyone. May the Lord bless us. Amen.
