Four reasons God blesses even unworthy – Christian Message in English/ Great Light Church/ Latest bible message

When God Helps — Even the Unworthy Why does God help certain people? Why does He grant blessings to some, even to the wicked and unfaithful? At times, we see sinners and traitors enjoying God’s goodness and guidance. Why does God do this?

King Ahab of Israel was one such man — he experienced great blessings from God, receiving favor again and again.Yet the Bible says in 1 Kings 16:30, “Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him.”Still, God continued to help him and even granted him victories. Why would God do that? There could be many reasons — but when we study 1 Kings chapter 20, we can see four key reasons why God blessed Ahab despite his wickedness. Four Reasons Why God Blessed Ahab (and Still Blesses Us)

In 1 Kings 20:1, Ben-Hadad, the king of Aram, is mentioned, and in verse 2, Ahab, king of Israel, is introduced.Throughout the chapter, Ahab is repeatedly called “the king of Israel” — more than twelve times. This repeated mention reminds us that Ahab, though wicked, was still the king of God’s chosen nation, Israel — the people whom God had called, chosen, and promised a land of inheritance.

Though Ahab was an evil ruler who did more wickedness than all who came before him, God still blessed him with victories and grace. Why? Because God remains faithful to His covenant and to His chosen people. Even when His people fail, God does not fail. His call is unchanging, His mercy everlasting.Just as earthly parents still care for their stubborn children, our heavenly Father continues to show mercy to His chosen ones.

Let us therefore not misuse His grace. Instead, let us humble ourselves before Him, walk worthy of His calling, and live with gratitude that we are known and chosen by God.

In verse 13, God sends a prophet to Ahab saying:“Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and then you will know that I am the Lord. ”Again in verse 28, God sends another man of God with the same assurance. And in verse 35, we see even a son of the prophets being sent — God continuously sending His servants to Ahab.

This reveals how deeply God loved Ahab and how earnestly He longed for him to repent.God expected that through these repeated encounters, Ahab might change his heart. But Ahab misunderstood God’s love — he thought that God’s attention meant approval.

Many people today make the same mistake. God blesses them, helps them, and gives them success — not because He approves of their sin, but because He loves them and hopes they will turn to Him.Let us never take God’s love as a license to remain unchanged, but as an invitation to repentance and holiness.

In verse 15, Ahab’s army had only 7,000 men, while the enemy had thirty-two kings allied against him — an impossible battle. Yet Ahab won, not because of his wisdom or strength, but purely because of God’s grace. Grace is a gift to the undeserving.

Ahab had no righteousness, no truth, and no holiness — yet God’s grace brought him victory. If not for that grace, his story would have ended quickly.Likewise, in our own lives, the victories we enjoy are not the result of our power, wisdom, or talent — they come only by the grace of God.When we recognize that, it humbles us and draws us to live a holy and thankful life before Him.

In verse 28, God again sends a man of God to Ahab:“The Arameans think the Lord is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys; so I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the Lord.”The enemy limited God by saying He was only “the God of the hills.”To prove them wrong, God gave Ahab another victory — not for Ahab’s sake, but for His own name’s sake and to silence the enemy.

In the same way, sometimes God blesses us not because we deserve it, but so that His glory will be seen among unbelievers. He blesses us before those who mock Him — to show that He is the true and living God. Let us therefore live a life that honors His name, a holy and reverent life that magnifies His glory before the world.

✨ Conclusion

God may bless us for many reasons — His choice, His love, His grace, and even because of His enemies —but let us never take His blessings lightly.Instead, let us respond with repentance, gratitude, and holiness, living as true children of the Living God.
